3D Shaping
Design and Build in Three Dimensions
Course Overview
A hands-on introduction to 3D design where students turn ideas into real, printable models. Starting from simple shapes, learners combine, resize, and arrange objects to create their own characters, gadgets, and mini-inventions — building spatial thinking and digital creativity along the way.
What you'll learn
- Understand what 3D modelling is and where it is used in the real world
- Navigate a 3D workspace — rotate, zoom, and move around a scene
- Create and combine basic 3D shapes into more complex objects
- Resize, align, group, and position objects accurately
- Use holes and merging to cut and join shapes
- Design a personal 3D model from an original idea
- Prepare a finished model so it is ready for 3D printing
Final Outcome
Students gain confidence thinking and creating in three dimensions, finishing with their own designed model — ready to be 3D printed or showcased.
The Final Project
An original 3D model designed by the student — such as a name tag, keychain, or character — prepared and ready for 3D printing.
